Buddy Complex... time traveling hurt my brain. (simple review)

The sequel only span 2 episodes, i have no idea why it's only 2 but nevertheless we have a proper ending.
When the series came out I'm expecting a full blown mecha action with some political dump into it gundam style, instead i got a good mecha action and a story about being a best bro, nice wingman and a poor sob who got NTRed so hard he goes bananas at the last episode.

Overall i enjoy most of the episode, action is solid but predictable, story is okay for me although char design is not memorable to be honest, some has interesting quirk but in general you probably forgot them in a week or two. With the exception of the main villain, i actually feel for the guy at first but the more it close to finale the more i cant take him seriously anymore. Basically he start as a decent guy who fell for the main heroine which later got friendzoned in the most glorious mecha anime way (for real), yet after 50 years++ (time traveling ahoy) he still longing for her, orchestrated everything and dead set to kill the main hero, only to get awesomely friendzoned AGAIN...... that's pretty much sums up him.
Mecha wise only the "key" mech looks good design wise, the enemy grunt is fine but forgettable, the good side grunt however...  it look "boxy" and whoever design it must have a thing with exhaust vent. Personally i like the main hero mech (Luxon), it look pretty rad especially when in coupling state. Speaking of coupling, its the key term in this anime (newtype, seed etc), its a system that can make the mech (luxon for example) become badass for a couple of minutes, when active it's pretty much 100% bye bye enemy grunts, the downside is that the system require 2 people for it, that's mean 2 mech to do so. The system doesn't have sort of "blackbox" or alien tech like that so it's pretty much that's that, don't expect anything from it because for me the system is more like a "spices" to add more plot/drama between the hero and others (it actually give you a good twist later).

The time traveling stuff however.... its good but it hurt my brain so much, it didn't tell you about rocket science behind it but if you trying to piece it together the whole thing it could cause you a headache because...... well the main hero got time traveled, the main villain also got time traveled, the main heroine however got time traveled time loop and alternate timeline... plus de-aged and amnesia to boot. It however manage to make the anime still interesting to watch because it didn't try to make you think like somekind of detective show, they give some hint in some episode and by the end of it they actually somehow explain it all the how, why and when factor. It still has a plothole but at least it manage to explain it to you the cause and effect which rarely happen in today's anime.

STORY: 6-7 Don't think too much about it and you might enjoy it more than you think.
DESIGN: 6 Aside from some of the mech design, forgettable at best
ANIMATION: 7 It has it moment that can make you smile, the rest is passable.
MUSIC: 6 nothing extraordinary about it, although the insert song at the last episode really spot on with the moment.

OVERALL: 6-7 i don't really recommend it if you are not into mecha stuff because that's 50% of the content, the story however might caught your attention if you like time travel stuff. The closing and proper good ending might be a plus too.
